• While the most comprehensive and useful thing I read for this piece was The Year Without a Summer: 1816 and the Volcano that Darkened the World and Changed history by William and Nicholas Klingaman, my favorite thing was this video of a news report on the work of Vermont historian, Howard Coffin.
