An elderly female passenger climbing aboard one of the steam trains for the Mount Washington Cog Railway asked one of the crew “What happens if the brakes fail?”

“That’s no problem, Ma’am.” said the crewman, who got asked this a lot. “We’ve got another set we can put on.”

“Yes, but what happens if they all let go?”

At this, the seasoned railroader tipped his hat, and said “Well, ma’m…that depends on what kind of life you’ve led.”
